Meet the Wildcat Fitness Class Instructors

Classes: Morning Bootcamp, Circuit Training, Strength and Cardio
Emma is a certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor through Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). She plans to begin training for certification in other areas now that she has been teaching and is passionate about it!
Emma has been an athlete for most of her life and credits her sanity to her early morning exercise. In high school, she began running cross country and indoor track and playing lacrosse in the spring. In the year 2000 Emma began training for her first marathon and fell in love. Since then, she has run many and also enjoys running half-marathons, 10Ks and other races, including trail racing. She has taken various classes over the years and decided last year to become certified to be able to teach fitness classes as well as run: A perfect fit for an active lifestyle. In addition to running and circuit/strength training, Emma is a Spanish teacher at Oyster River Middle School where she also coaches the cross country team. She hopes to instill a love of language, as well as a love of fitness in her middle Middle School Students.
Over the last few years Emma has helped various people begin to learn to love to run and to train for races. Realizing that many of her friends and family were interested in working towards a fit lifestyle but needed a little assist, she began to ponder how to teach strength training and cardio classes in a fun way. Three months in, Emma is not only having a blast, but has convinced those same friends that 5:30 a.m. exercise is the best way to start the day! For Emma, gardening and being outside hiking or playing at the lake aid in a healthy attitude and happy life. Helping to share the benefits of the outdoors, fitness and the joy of movement has become a goal that is infused in all the classes that Emma teaches.

Tess Weglarz(1)

Classes: Dance Fit & Core & Strength

Tess has a dance background in jazz, which spans over the past 27 years. She started dancing in the fitness class format almost 20 years ago, and choreographing routines for dance expositions and other dance instructors about 10 years ago. The cornerstone of Tess’s fitness classes is DanceFit – an easy to follow, aerobic dance class that incorporates heart strengthening cardio, core building kickboxing, simple hip-hop moves, and muscle lengthening ballet technique. This is followed by strength training with weights for the upper torso, abdominals, glutes and/or hamstrings. The class is choreographed and structured so ANYONE can participate, regardless of dance experience. The focus is on fun and body movement, with both high and low impact options, as well as high and low intensity options.

Tess lives in Durham with her family, loves going to the beach for stand-up paddle boarding in the summer, and heading to the mountains during winter weekends. She is the Girls Lacrosse Coordinator for ORYA and coaches lacrosse for girls ranging in age from 6-15 years old. Tess is co-proprietor of her family real estate business, Roper Real Estate located in Waterville Valley, as well the Cedar Point Oyster Farm located on Great Bay which she started with her husband in 2011. She is a big proponent of women coming together as a community to get and stay fit together in a judgement-free setting, while having the most fun possible.
